Landscapes

The landscapes of Canada speak to me in hushed tones and I listen.

My hand-embroidered landscape tapestries are shaped by my time spent along the coast and deep within the rainforests, where landscapes of Ontario and British Columbia speak in hushed tones. I listen and I observe light, shade, and scale shift, and am inspired to create.

The chain stitch forms the foundation of my practice. Layered with French knots, whipped chain, and Cretan stitches, used to build dimension, movement, and texture, echoing the complex surfaces and muted colours palettes of the Canadian landscape. Through layered stitches and deliberate pacing, each work becomes a quiet meditation on place, time, memory, and scale.

Below is a selection of hand-embroidered landscapes inspired by the Canadian wilderness. Each piece is entirely hand-stitched and is a one-of-a-kind work. For enquiries about available artwork please get in touch via the contact page.

The landscapes of Northern Ontario inspire the hand-embroidered tapestries featured below.
